Why America, Why?

Following the election, many Trump supporters have called for unity and giving the new administration “a chance” to “make America great again.” This raises several questions worth examining: What specific aspects of America do supporters believe need fundamental change? And is the proposed approach likely to achieve those goals effectively?

From a policy perspective, there are legitimate concerns about the incoming administration’s approach to governance. The tendency to dismiss established expertise, whether scientific consensus or institutional knowledge, suggests a preference for intuition over evidence-based decision-making. In professional contexts, this would be comparable to a new team member who, rather than building on existing work and understanding systemic complexities, advocates for starting over entirely—often at significant cost and without clear justification.

The rhetoric around “making America great again” implies our current state is fundamentally broken, yet this framing overlooks many areas where the country has made measurable progress. While every administration faces real challenges that deserve serious attention, the wholesale rejection of previous efforts and expertise raises questions about whether the proposed solutions will actually address underlying issues effectively.

For those interested in understanding these concerns in more detail, the following examples illustrate specific instances where these patterns have emerged:
